Credited as being Maryland's frst operational hospital-to-hospital HIE, LifeBridge Health and Saint Agnes Hospital selected HealthUnity to power their regional HIE. LifeBridge Health and Saint Agnes Hospital have previously invested in electronic medical record and clinical decision support systems to improve patient care. The HIE project, a successful proof-of-concept linking consumers and health care providers was funded signifcantly by CareFirst Blue Cross BlueShield and LifeBridge Health and is the frst in a statewide effort to bridge health information gaps between hospitals through electronic health information exchange.

The HIE founders benefit from an estimated value of $263,000 per year delivered by the HIE.
